Alan Oldham aka Dj T-1000 at K1971 Podcast Series

A lifelong cartoonist and graphic designer, a young Oldham published his own indie comic book "Johnny Gambit" in 1987 to local notoriety. Hired that same year by his childhood friend Derrick May to illustrate several memorable pieces for his new Transmat label, this led to Oldham's very first involvement in the fledgling techno scene. More art requests quickly followed, most famously from the Djax-Up-Beats label (NL), where his art took center stage for many years (the lone EP that Oldham produced for Djax, under the name Signal To Noise Ratio, brought home a 1991 Detroit Metro Times Music Award for best single in "Detroit Is Burning"). At the same time, college-student Oldham was hired at local radio station WDET, hosting Detroit's first-ever all-electronic radio program, "Fast Forward," introducing artists like UR, Richie Hawtin and Carl Craig to local airwaves.
Five years later, Oldham found himself under the tutelage of UR's Mad Mike Banks. Initially hired as UR's "Minister of Information," working side-by-side with Rob Hood and others in the office, Oldham was eventually tapped to replace his departing friend Jeff Mills as DJ on UR's world tour (quitting WDET in the process), and DJ T-1000 (and his label Generator, distributed by Submerge) was born. Big shoes to fill, but he was up to the task. For a year afterwards, Oldham toured with Banks in the UR techno boot camp. Since those long-ago days, a solo Oldham continues to rock crowds in Berlin (with an unofficial residency at Tresor), Milan, Barcelona (unofficial residency at Moog), Madrid, London, Tel Aviv, Tokyo and all points in between with his own no-nonsense brand of bangin', funky-ass techno. When DJ T-1000 is on the flyer, fans know he's bringing the ruckus. In 2004, Oldham finally left a flagging Motor City for the Midwest boomtown of Chicago. And in 2005 he finally established his permanent European base in the world's latest electronic music capital, Berlin. When he's not behind the decks or in the studio producing electronic dance music for labels like Tresor Berlin, Inzec (CH), Minimalsoul (CH), or his own Pure Sonik and Generator imprints, Oldham has provided artwork for the electronic music industry for almost 20 years. Also, his drawings and large-scale paintings have been on display in art galleries in Chicago, Berlin, Paris, Los Angeles, and most recently a sold-out opening in Amsterdam.

RVDE at Italiansgroove Radio Show * TWO YEARS STROM:KRAFT

Rvde is the project born from two dj/producer. Different background but the same point of view. They're into music since they have memory. Experimenting with several styles, they find their own way with a kind of raw, deep, dark and twisted techno. It encloses inside the basics of electronic music and shades of analogue soundscape, like the today's european techno sound. They play and produce with both software and hardware tools. Around since December 2012, Rvde have just released their first ep on Black Reel Records, and have their second upcoming ep on Intellighenzia Electronica. Also they're workin' on plenty of tracks, remixes and collaboration, who just got a good support from many artists (such as DVS1, Chris Liebing, Coeter, Morgan Tomas, Electrorites, Wirrwarr, Vegim and so on).

Dabub at Secret Thirteen Mix #100

Dadub is a meeting of two minds, Daniele Antezza and Giovanni Conti, a duo whose output is underpinned by a mutual curiosity. The result? Startling electronic music productions, one of the best live acts in the scene and the innovative Artefacts Mastering studio.
The collaboration started not in their native Italy, but in Berlin. Daniele arrived in Berlin with the kernel of Dadub, a project he'd begun in 2008 with a release on the label A Quite Bump. Daniele came via Rome where he'd plunged himself into production, studying electronic music. Giovanni had been drawn to Berlin to work on interactive digital arts projects, honing his knowledge of hardware and software. Once they met it was only a matter of time before Dadub became a two-men project.
Twinned by a fascination of process, and a love of Lee Scratch Perry's mix board experiments, they take dub and push it into the deepest corners of techno and out to the ambient fringes. Frustrated by identikit sounds in electronic music they set about pouring their technical knowledge together in search of innovation.
They describe their approach in the studio as 'like making scent'. Dadub take sound and process it to extract depth and expose human warmth. With this studio outlook it was natural for Dadub to move into mastering. They delved in and Artefacts Mastering emerged: mastering that involves no presets and a policy of adjusting every track entirely from scratch. It's exactly this type of discipline, their use of open strategies instead of formulas that also makes Dadub so dynamic live. Live they layer dubbing and synthesis, they take Dadub material and deconstruct or reconstruct it spontaneously. Their sets are seriously deep and have been showcased internationally at Barcelona's Sonar festival, Germany's Melt! festival and in clubs from Berlin to Moscow and New York.
There's something alchemical about Dadub whether live, on record or when commanding the studio. And when considering their mixes for CLR or Electric Deluxe and Electronic Explorations, it's clear that when given space and length they're ambitious. This adds anticipation for the forthcoming Dadub productions, particularly their first album, which they are currently synthesizing into existence.

Takkaki Itoh liveset at OVeR! Tittytwister.Tsuruoka.Yamagata. [14.12.2013]

Techno hit Japan hard in the early 1990s. Surprised, Takaaki Itoh was quickly impressed and intrigued with this new sound. The unique style of beats revealed the gateway to a new world of underground music in Japan - something he had never heard before. Surprise slowly gave way to addiction when Takaaki Itoh was exposed to the sounds of such artists and labels as Underground Resistance, Derrick May, Jeff Mills, Hardfloor, Sven V?, Harthouse, Warp and Rising High. This was his sound, and deciding he just couldn't get enough of it, in 1994 Takaaki began to organize his own techno parties in his home of northern Japan. By providing a fantastic lineup, his parties quickly became a success.

[Video] Shapednoise liveset at Boiler Room * Berlin

Born in Palermo 1/12/1989. He got into dance culture, and particularly electronic music when he was 12, with great excitement and satisfaction about expressing himself through music. He keeps cultivating this passion and in 2009 he moves to Milan for studing "Audio Engineering" at Sae Institute, and he begins to dedicate himself to production of techno music. In 2010, several travels to Berlin and the confidence of his friend Ascion, the first one to believe in his work, has been new motivating forces to keep on his first productions. He starts to crunk out his first releases, pretty much “canonical” techno, soon getting to the development of a very personal sound, orientated to experimental sound design with an industrial  background. His works meet immediatly a great success among the insiders. In june 2011, after finishing his studies, he moves to Berlin and starts working on “REPITCH”, a new label founded together with Ascion and D.Carbone. REPITCH is definitely a label of dark tonalities. Shapednoise will take care of the experimentation of sounds turned towards a not so distant future, out of every musical logic, perfectly denoting the concept already defined by the other two Repitch, but undoubtely in a more extreme way.

[Video] Robert Hood at Crime Fest 2013

Robert Hood makes minimal Detroit techno with an emphasis on soul and experimentation over flash and popularity. Having recorded for Metroplex as well as the Austrian Cheap label, the French label Logistic and Jeff Mills' Axis label, Hood also owns and operates the M-Plant imprint, through which he's released the bulk of his solo material. Hood was a founding member, along with Jeff Mills and Mike Banks, of the Underground Resistance label, whose influential releases throughout the early and mid '90s helped change the face of modern Detroit techno and sparked a creative renaissance. Infusing elements of acid and industrial into a potent blend of Chicago house and Detroit techno, UR's aesthetic project and militant business philosophy were (and remain) singular commitments in underground techno. Hood left Detroit (and UR) with Jeff Mills in 1992, setting up shop in New York and recording a series of 12-inch EPs . Through the mid '90s, Hood has focused on his solo work, setting up M-Plant in 1994 and releasing singles such as "Internal Empire," "Music Data," and "Moveable Parts." Although his desire to remain underground has been replaced by an urge to reach a wider audience, Hood remains fiercely critical of artistic and economic movements destructive to inner-city communities and has combined his musical enterprises with outreach and social activist ends. His debut album “Wire to Wire“ took Hood's hypnotic minimalism to entirely new depths and territories, whilst his latest album 'Molecule' under the nickname “Monobox“ released on Logistic takes his productions onto new levels of musicality and sophistication within the world of electronic music.
