TR-101 liveset at Berghain [14.07.2012]

TR-101 aka Dj Pete and Sleeparchive

TR-101 is the collaborative live project of DJ Pete and Sleeparchive, although you'd been forgiven if this was your introduction as they've only stepped out under the alias a handful of times. Peter Kuschnereit is recognized as one of Berlin's longest-serving techno figureheads through his work behind the counter at Hard Wax and in the studio as Substance and one half of Scion alongside René Löwe (AKA Vainqueur). Roger Semsroth, meanwhile, has been dabbling in the deepest recesses of minimal techno as Sleeparchive since 2004, releasing a string of low-key 12-inches through his eponymous imprint, and most recently appearing on Tresor with Ronan Point in the middle of 2011.

Obtane at M_REC LTD Podcast 13

M_Rec Ltd is born from years of experience in the world of techno…

M_Rec’s concept is simple and pure…the objective is to let people hear the sound of techno in all its shades through the work of international artist with historical experience in techno, all this without forgetting the origins and never like now has it been so important to get back to the roots…and only the ones who know them can transmit this concept.

After years of accurate analysis on forms and structures of the electronic dance music, in a transitional and evolutionary path, Obtane’s music has took the shape of something that concerns him inwardly. The cold non-melodies and the crashing metal emerging from his productions are particularly linked to his dark interpretation of life and its phenomena. Literally obsessed by the “man-machine” concept, his music is a futuristic manifesto against human mediocrity and baseness. During his sets is as he felt a little cosmic avenger with a clear mission: raising human level through Techno. Far away from the concept “electronic music as entertainment”, he feels Techno as a lifestyle.

Polyhedric producer, musician and DJ based in Milan, AntiteQ, founder of MagmatiQ Records, in the last two years he published two Eps, various remixes and collaborations with many artists, bands and italian DJs, and over 100 gigs between livesets & dj sets.
His liveset are entirely made of analogue drum machines, synthesizers, samplers and various paraphernalia, rather than impersonal laptop set. It is his distinctive trademark. His personality disorders led him to divide between idm-ambient-post-rock from which it comes to techno and dubstep-dancefloor, without leaving streaks and psychedelic melancholy.

Tolouse Low Trax at Smoke Machine UN #19

This is live recording at SALON DES AMATEURS/DÜSSELDORF on 11th April.

For ages nighttime was said to be the time of ghosts and spirits. Creatures of the night were believed to gain special powers between midnight and dawn. In latin this shrouded in mystery lapse of time was called "intempesta" - time without time. Detlef Weinrich, alias Toulouse Low Trax, too, seems to have lingered in the irrational universe of frozen continuity quite frequently within the last two years. Everyone who drifts to the sound of his first solo album "Mask Talk" will soon sense the musical intensity boding a different dancefloor. Cool, atmospheric new-wave-sharpness, and a cushioned beat rate between 107 and 116 bpm call out a mechanical functionality that doesn't bow to any contemporary doctrine. "Mask Talk": urban music, club album. Big city lights in Africa. Chilly neon-sounds made in Dusseldorf.

The Black Dog - Dystopia Podcast 003 (Dark Wave Volume Nine)

The Black Dog was founded by Ken Downie along with Ed Handley and Andy Turner. Regarded as legends by some, the group are pioneers who, along with acts like Autechre, Aphex Twin, µ-ziq and LFO, came to define the techno movement known as intelligent dance music (IDM) in the early 1990s. In 1989, The Black Dog was unable to find a label to back its releases and started its own, Black Dog Productions, which released four vinyl records. After a few vinyl EPs on General Production Recordings, The Black Dog released its first full-length album Bytes on Warp Records on 15 March 1993. The albums Temple of Transparent Balls (GPR) and Spanners (Warp) followed. The music was often produced under a number of different names, such as Close Up Over, Xeper, Atypic, I.A.O., Balil and the Discordian Popes. The group did numerous remixes, notably for Björk, with whom it collaborated on "'Sweet Intuition" and "Charlene". In 1995, Handley and Turner left to focus on Plaid but Downie continued working as The Black Dog on his own for a while, releasing the solo album Music for Adverts (and short films). With new management, and an increased vigour, Downie then teamed up with Steve 'Hotdog' Ash and Ross Knight ("thek1d"). Though they completed over a dozen critically acclaimed remixes during this period, only one album was ever released: Unsavoury Products featured the talents of Parisian beat poet Black Sifichi on vocals.

Pert VS Pelu // Live Hardware Improvisation

A live set made only with hardware. Sounds and sequences are improvised.

Drums: Andrea Peluso
Bass / Synth: Emanuele Pertoldi

Emanuele Pertoldi was born in a place where electronic music scene was and is very poor. Since he was a child he had a strong passion for music. After a lot of time behind experiments with sequencers, synths and dj gear he decided to pay more attention to his productions rather than finding places for djing due to no opportunities to play his genre around him. Sound research, creativity and passion are the keys of his tracks. He promotes the concept of quality over quantity. He wants to transmit his sensations with warm waves that let your body feel the emotion inside his music. He is always influenced by Detroit and Berlin techno,by analog synths,by people who understand what he does and share the same passion. He is also founder of Evasion Room Records with Riccardo D'Agostini.

Santiago Salazar / Different World - Podcast 006

Santiago Salazar aka DJ S2 started deejaying in the early '90s inspired by mix tapes his brother was bringing back from the Gay underground scene in Los Angeles. His style has always been a mixture of house and techno.  After moving to Detroit, Santiago began his music training with Mike Banks, label founder of Underground Resistance. He mixed and edited several UR releases and remixed the mighty "Return of the Dragons" and DJ Rolando's "Aguila". He released his own tracks under monikers like Aztech Sol and Seldom Seen and became a core member of the Los Hermanos and Galaxy 2 Galaxy live bands, using his DJ skills to control the flow and intensity of the live performances. Alongside long time friend Esteban Adame, Santiago recently formed Ican (short for mexican) and released a bunch of highly acclaimed 12"s both on Carl Craigs Planet E imprint as well as ICAN productions.

Konik Polny - Svarionipremeditati Podcast #16

we have the big pleasure to present another great friend of us
Konik Polny [Drex Limited - Quadrant Recordings - JopRec]

Konik Polny means grasshopper in Polish, and it’s a very appropriate name for the nature of kp’s music. If you ask him what it means, he looks at you and smiles, and starts telling you about Dutch teknival back in the year 2000, of repeated police controls.. of trucks and vans... of people and friends, travelling the Dutch highways looking for a place to make a party and meeting on their road.....
He moved to the German capital in 2000 where the underground electronic scene was flourishing and Berlin became his house and city. Since then he’s been playing in numerous clubs pulsating with life: The Köpi(historical squat), the Love parade, Suppamolli, Maria am Ostbahnhof and the Fishladen, to mention a few. These are all places of cult status in the techno music scene.
It is here that its sonorities purchase consistence, shot through the speakers like bullets piercing through the dancing bodies, an artistic expression of music in continuous evolution. It is music which is visceral, vibrating, a fusion of underground techno: dark and repetitive with soft sonorities neighbouring culture drum and bass, and break-beat.
Konik Polny’s ideal place for expression are electronic music festival, in the last four years he has participated as spectator and musician in almost all the festivals in Europe. His particular favourite is the CEKTEK in the Czech republic where one is transported into a fantastic fascinating atmosphere. The live sets seem to transmit states of animo, transforming from acid music lines, to dark and even playful sonority. In the last years he has been playing at the Cinema of Barcelona, the Wagon Club, Wroclaw in Poland, the nation that has entertained him on so many occasions.

Perc / Pole Group Podcast

From his earliest demos to his current position as a key figure in the global techno scene, Perc (aka Ali Wells) has taken the established forms of the music he loves and twisted them into something new and fresh. Building up successful relationships with scene-leading labels such as Drumcode, Ovum, Kompakt and CLR whilst unleashing a strong run of releases on his own Perc Trax label has seen Perc’s influence and support grow even further. With each release his sonic experimentation has taken another leap forward without losing sight of the dance floor. 2009’s ‘Throb’ on Ovum and ‘Submit’ on CLR brought Perc his first support from the key Berlin tastemakers and his 2010 releases including ‘BCG’ (Perc Trax) and ‘Monad V’ (Stroboscopic Artefacts) have made him an essential artist for those with an interest in techno that refuses to conform to preconceptions. 2010 has ended on a high with a trio of releases for Perc including his third EP on CLR, a collaboration with Italy's Modern Heads on Stroboscopic Artefacts and a split 12" with rising star Sawf on Perc Trax. As a DJ and live act Perc has covered all of Europe plus multiple tours of USA, Canada, Mexico, South Africa and Japan. Personal highlights for Perc's touring include a back-to-back set with Oliver Ho in Tokyo, his debut at Tresor in early 2010, being part of the Drumcode tent at Dance Valley in 2008 and playing on the same bill as Richie Hawtin and Speedy J at 2008’s Electric Deluxe Queen’s Day party at Melkweg, Amsterdam. 2011 will see the release of Perc's first album, another tour the USA and Canada and his debut at Berghain.
